The Strokes. Love them or hate them, they are seemingly omnipresent. I like the Strokes, they have a way of just being there, easy to listen to, easy to sing along to. When I first heard this song (much like the rest of their records) it took a little while to get it.
So, it starts out sounding like The Cure, in fact, it could be a B-Side from The Head On The Door. Not a bad thing.
The chorus kicks in and *instantly* I’m thinking Dancing With Myself – whether it be Billy Idol, Gen-X, Blink-192 or Nouvelle Vague, it’s definitely similar. Again, not a bad thing.
It’s good, it’s certainly Julian Casablancas and Co, it’s not groundbreaking but hey, it’s the Strokes.
