I can’t believe that I haven’t added this band earlier, I have been listening to them for ages. King Nun‘s album Mass is one of those albums that you think you have always had in your life. It’s got a weird familiarity to it, it’s not like anything else but you just feel it’s been in your head for a long time.
Is that a weird thing to say?
Anyway, the almost punk energy and Joy Division-esque darkness works well for them, there’s a multitude of style in this record, the one outstanding parallel I get is in the vocals harking back to Mystery Jets and The Wombats.
Mascara Runs, I Saw Blue and Chinese Medicine in particular (to me) are stand-outs.
