Also, Cheers Old Chappo – Out 20th May
Loops, samples and surfing. All good things. So I was pretty happy when I heard Gushh – a new act from one of my favourite musical hotbeds Bristol.
There was a big looping scene a couple of years ago, it seems Math-Rock never truly goes away. It’s as though Gushh is the spiritual evolution of Public Service Broadcasting, La Jungle, Enemies and The Physics House Band but WAY more sedate. The surf rock reminiscence and draping reverb is spot on for reminiscing, it’s music to look back to your past to and make you smile.
Maybe I’m getting too deep but that’s how I see it. The set up and feel is reminiscent of the short lived Chillwave movement, primarily the early stuff from Washed Out and to an extent Porcelain Raft.
So The Endless Wave is available now on Spotify and the new single Cheers, Old Chappo is out on the 20th and is absolute class.
