What do you get if you mix The Cribs, The Libertines and Pavement? Something that closely resembles Tom Spencer. Proper rock that with a sense of angst that is a strangely missing from indie recently.
There are some real standouts on the new album Liverpool, the titular track being a slow ballad, that is showcasing his vocals which are actually really quite enviable. Especially when you consider that he writes, records and produces all his own music. Some people have incredible amounts of talent, it’s so unfair.
Enough of my rambling on (see what I did there? listen to the song, you’ll get it), Liverpool and especially Coffee Break are worth repeated listens, the eclectic mix of Psych/Garage/Rock has something for everyone.
