From the beautiful but cold city of Edinburgh comes Sarah Martinson. She has just released her album Back To You on all platforms and she creates a massive mix of music. Branching from almost folk to jazz to pop to slightly experimental for example If We Knew, which is actually really quite bizarre in it’s church type choral quality but a real good showcase for how much you can express yourself without going over the top, she really has given up with labels and just makes music that she clearly loves.
Honestly, I cannot come up with a single example of another band based on Sarah but she has been likened to Stevie Wonder, Sara Bareilles, and Vulfpeck. Not too shabby.
Check out Tough Love below which is absolutely perfect, showing that she really knows how to sing but keeping it a simple and stripped back as possible. Incredible, basically.
